Change of PI-Does a change in PI on an existing UMB project still need to be routed through KC and are there any UMB forms that need to be included? If so does SPA have them on their website?

If the PI change is within the same department, no routing is required, but if department and/or school changes, routing for the change in PI is necessary. Notification to the Sponsored Programs office would include a memo signed off by the Department Chair, PI leaving, and PI coming on which would be sent to your assigned SPA team.  There is no change of PI form, however, you will need approval from the sponsor, since the Principal Investigator is considered a key person on the grant/contract.  Depending on the funding source, you may need to provide your Sponsored Programs office with an amendment or a revised notice of grant award.  Please contact your SPA team for assistance.
