When we are entering modular budgets in KC, do we have to include salaries somewhere or can we use the cost element for “direct costs, less subs and equipment”? Can we enter $250,000 for our total direct costs on that line?

You may use the cost element, “direct costs less subs and equipment”, however you must be sure that the amount of direct costs, in modules of $25,000, will be enough to cover all effort and operating expenses. Completing a detailed budget in KC may help you determine if you are requesting the correct number of modules and if the project costs are accurately detailed. While SPA does not require a detailed budget for proposals that are modular, each school has different requirements for routing proposals. Please be sure to check with your Dean’s office for guidance.
One benefit of completing the detailed budget is that if awarded, SPAC will use that budget to set up the award in financials.
